The Halloween franchise, every episode of the Freddy Krueger movies, as well as Jason Voorhees, and Scream's ghostface. I've watched all of them. The slasher movies in recent years are a bit cliched so I repeatedly watch the old ones in 80s and 90s. Hopefully Netflix will add more horror films to its collection... I put a link to the Halloween original them song here (it's my favourite horror movie theme music).

Life under Covid lockdown isn't fun at all. Interestingly, for me, following the latest research on Covid treatments and vaccines is a very good distraction from the doom and gloom of the pandemic. I listen to the ABC's Coronacast every day. The podcast's host Dr Norman Swan has a very soothing voice with Scottish accent. Also, I recommend the Health Report podcast.

Everything Everywhere All At Once is my favourite movie at the moment. I especially love its philosophical debate about the meaning of life. Life is, as many nihilists suggests, inherently meaningless. And we need to create meaning for our own life. Typically meaningfulness is measured by materialism, such as how many papers we publish or how many grants we earn. The reason that I love this movie so much is because it offers a different way of thinking - the true meaning of life lies in every little interaction we have with other people. And this highlights the important of empathy - empathy is both humane and strategic; it is morally wise and practically necessary. |
